1. What we collect — and what we never ask for

We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the service:

• Account data: your username, display name, and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in readable form.
• Your content: messages you send, group memberships, contacts, friend requests, and meeting rooms you create.
• Presence: the last time you were active (used only to show "online" status).
• Moderation records: reports you file or that are filed about you, plus warnings/blocks if any.

We never ask for your phone number, email address, or other personal identifiers. Your public identity on GlobalChat is only your username and display name. Never share private information (phone numbers, addresses, bank details) in chats — and never share your password with anyone.

2. How your data is used

Your data is used only to operate GlobalChat: delivering messages, showing online status, and enforcing the Community Guidelines. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising profiles.

3. Who can see your content

• 1-1 chat messages are visible only to the two participants.
• Group messages are visible to group members.
• Your username, display name, and online status are visible to other users.
• Meeting links you share can be joined by anyone with the link.

4. Cookies

We use a single strictly-necessary cookie to keep you logged in. No tracking or advertising cookies are used.

5. Data security

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt, sessions use signed tokens in httpOnly cookies, and data is stored on secured infrastructure. No system is 100% secure, so please still guard your password.

6. Your choices

You may block users, decline friend requests, and leave groups at any time. To delete your account and data, contact support (below) and we will remove your account.
